Regeneration of the 5 major canals in urban Kochi , Kerala, India

Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has signed a contract with Antea Nederland B.V. and Antea Group India (formerly Unihorn India) as JV partner to make five of the Kochi city's canals clean and navigable. This is a step forward in implementing the 'Integrated Urban Regeneration and Development of Waterways in Kochi' scheme.

Scope

The scope of work includes overall project management which covers planning, design, and construction supervision. The work involves designing buildings with green logic including structure, civil, piling, fabrication, pre-engineered buildings, E & M, finishing (both external and internal) lifts, escalators, water supply, sanitary installations, HVAC, solar installations, design of suitable foundations and structure for bridges/cross structures, external development works, horticulture and landscaping. Responsibility extends to prepare plan for Canal Regeneration (Canal Cleaning and Hyacinth removal), transportation planning for roads and jetties and infrastructure / property development projects.

Project goal

The project envisages the regeneration of the 5 major canals in Urban Kochi and develops it for inland navigation, tourism and recreational purpose.
